Friday Food For Thought - Time to Slow Down

This piece by Lan Phan of the Community of Seven is a great reminder to slow down a bit and appreciate the present moment; who you are and what you have, and the importance of taking one day at a time and giving yourself some grace. Doing so will help you ‘slay the day’ and the month!

Stop being so hard on yourself. Yup, I'm looking at you. Change doesn't happen overnight. Right now, focus on slaying the day! Drink your 8-cups of water. Breathe. Get at least one of your most important tasks done before noon. Get outside and take a walk in nature. Meditate. Be kind to yourself. Celebrate small wins. Slay the day. You have the power to accomplish all that is yours to do. Just not all in one day. This reminds us of a quote by Oprah Winfrey, "You can have it all. Just not all at once." Just as Rome wasn't built in a day, your life is a journey built on the daily choices you make: your habits, your relationships, your mindset. “Most people overestimate what they can do in a day, and underestimate what they can do in a month. We overestimate what we can do in a year and underestimate what we can accomplish in a decade." — Matthew Kelly Treat your life like the unique masterpiece that it is. No one in the world has the same painting that you are creating. So stop comparing yourself to others. Look in the mirror. That's your only competition - the person you were yesterday. So focus on conquering the day. Then rinse and repeat. Who's with me? You got this!
