Emotional intelligence (EQ) is the ability to recognize, understand, and manage your own emotions—while also recognizing and responding effectively to the emotions of others.
When we think of people with high EQ, we picture leaders who are kind, calm, and able to give direct feedback in ways that inspire growth instead of discouragement. They make people feel seen and supported, even when talking about setbacks.
Of course, developing those skills isn’t always easy. Shifting from blowing up when things don’t go your way to approaching challenges with curiosity takes real practice. A great place to start? Compassion.
In this TED Talk, Daniel Goleman—the author of Emotional Intelligence—explains why compassion is such a powerful driver of EQ:🎥 Why Aren’t We More Compassionate?
